leader of the Institute, he is responsible for many of the decisions that create and maintain a safe environment for
members and those the Institute serves. Therefore, he must be prepared for his involvement, in abuse-related matters through education, training, and or experience in the impact of child sexual abuse and how to promote healing
for survivors.
To this end the Brother Visitor will submit documentation to Praesidium during the accreditation process certifying
that he has participated in specialized education programs and/or conferences that focus on sexual abuse.
6. Transition Plan for Leadership
a. The Institute understands the importance of the Visitor’s role in its abuse prevention efforts and in setting the tone

for the rest of the members. For this reason, we also recognize that our leaders must be well prepared to navigate
abuse-related matters in a way that will reinforce prevention efforts and help maintain a safe environment for everyone. To ensure the continuity of the Institute’s commitment to creating a safe environment and its abuse prevention
efforts, the Institute will follow Praesidium’s recommended Transition Plan, as specified in Appendix C, when a new
Visitor assumes responsibility of the Institute.
To this end the Brother Visitor will submit documentation to Praesidium during the accreditation process that he has
followed the Institute’s Transition Plan
