Saints & Sinners
Honoring Bill Kearns '50 (1932-2024)
Christian Brothers’
Annual Golf Outing
The 26th Saints & Sinners gathering was held on December 2, 2025 at
Hackney’s on Lake. Once again, it brought together alumni from many decades,
including classmates going all the way back to the Class of 1944. This beloved
tradition traces its roots to the vision of Bill Kearns. Bill was a man whose
life was embedded in service, humility, and boundless generosity. Bill’s impact
went far beyond coaching: he was the mastermind behind the beloved
Saints & Sinners luncheon, having turned a simple holiday gathering of old
friends into an annual St. George tradition that brings alumni, family, and
friends from all across Chicagoland together every December.

A proud graduate of the Class of 1950, Bill devoted
decades to coaching football, basketball, baseball,
and tennis, shaping not just athletes but leaders
who carried the values of teamwork, respect, and
sportsmanship into every aspect of their lives. His
commitment to the St. George alumni community
was unmatched; he edited his annual newsletter,
organized events, and kept the Dragon spirit alive
with grace and earnestness. Bill also shared his wisdom and
warmth through his long-running TV show Coach’s Corner, where
he connected deeply with his community and uplifted others
through his thoughtful conversations. Grounded in faith and
rooted in kindness, Bill’s generosity and devotion left a lasting
legacy; he truly embodied what it meant to be “Mr. St. George.”
Support for
Lasallian
education and
the Brothers
This year’s golf outing at
Old Orchard Golf Course was
a tremendous success, drawing
an enthusiastic turnout of
115 golfers and bringing together
participants from seven
Lasallian schools. Thanks to
the generosity of our sponsors,
donors, and players, the event
raised $32,000 for the Lasallian
Mission Opportunities Fund
(LMOF). These funds will
have a meaningful impact by
supporting student programming,
educator formation training,
and providing assistance to
students in need across Lasallian
schools. The spirit of community
and shared purpose was evident
throughout the day, and we are
incredibly grateful for everyone
who helped make this year’s
outing such a memorable and
impactful event.
Empower the next generation of leaders through high school student support.
As we reflect on the blessings of our education, we are called to support those
who continue this noble mission. We invite you to contribute
to the Legacy Fund, aiding in the care and support of retired
Brothers and ensuring the continuation of Lasallian education.
